Our Exotics Veterinarian

Ivana Levy, DVM

Dr. Ivana Levy is thrilled to join the team at Emergency Veterinary Hospital and Specialty Center as a residency trained exotic animal specialist, bringing her passion for birds, reptiles, and small companion mammals to the Ann Arbor community. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Dr. Levy earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois, completed a small animal rotating internship at Colorado State University, and went on to complete a residency in Zoological Medicine with a focus on companion exotics at the University of Wisconsin.

Her clinical interests include preventative and emergency medicine as well as strengthening the human-animal bond. Dr. Levy strives to provide individualized, compassionate care for every exotic patient—whether scaled, feathered, or furry—and enjoys collaborating closely with clients to promote long, healthy lives for their unique companions.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Levy shares her home with her fiancé, Sam, an opinionated eclectus parrot, Frank, and a delightful doodle, Huckleberry. She is excited to continue to explore Ann Arbor including the restaurants, parks and bike trails.

Why Exotic Pets Need Veterinary Care

Exotic pets are masters at hiding signs of illness, often showing very subtle changes in behavior, appetite, or activity when they’re unwell. Because of this, routine wellness exams and early intervention are critical for maintaining their health. Regular checkups help us detect issues before they become serious, provide guidance on proper husbandry and nutrition, and ensure your pet is thriving in its environment.
